Green Tea and Weight Loss

Green tea has always been part of the daily intake of the people in many Asian countries, with China and Japan predominant in the consumption and the growing of this herb. It has always been known to be very good for health and this has been proved scientifically.

It has a definite effect on the reduction of heart disease, lowers incidence of cancers,  prevents death of brain cells and helps patients suffering from Parkinson and Alzheimer. Its use in the Western world has vastly increased ever since it has gained the reputation of being helpful for weight loss.

The components of this tea that helps health are polyphenols and caffeine. Polyphenols strengthen the cells in the body while helping to weaken cancerous cells. They also  stimulate fat oxidation which is why it is so important to losing weight. They do this by inducing thermogenesis which induces the process of heat production which then burns the fat. Caffeine acts to stimulate the metabolism and thus the burning of calories so necessary for reducing weight.

The benefits of green tea for weight loss are noticeable only if substantial quantities of tea are consumed daily. This is suggested at 8 cups a day, something that is excessive to Western minds. In Asia, it is consumed throughout the day in small quantities. To help out in this, scientists have come out with supplements that have the tea extract as one of the main ingredients. These are so concentrated that one table spoon of the extract is equal to 8 cups of tea, and will therefore work well to reducing weight.

There are no side effects in the consumption of this herbal tea either directly as tea or in the form of extracts. So if you form a regime of drinking green tea you can do so for the rest of your life. It also helps to increase endurance and this in turn will allow you to sustain any exercise routine, which in turn can definitely be a help to weight loss.
